Ruthe Berto's Obituary
Mrs. Ruthe M. Berto, age 82, of Amherst, Wisconsin, formerly of Neenah, passed away Thursday, December 8th, 2005 at her residence. Mrs. Berto was born in Town of Buena Vista, Wisconsin on April 18, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Theresa (Corrigan) Helbach. On Dec 27, 1941 she married Frederic E. Berto at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Lanark . Ruthe & Fred owned and operated Berto's Superette from May 1956 to Nov 1963. She then worked for Sentry Insurance before moving to Neenah and working for Quality Printing. After retirement, Ruthe & Fred lived in Bradenton Florida from 1986-2001. They returned to Amherst in 2001 to live in the house they had built in 1968. Ruthe was a member of St. James Catholic Church-Altar Society. She enjoyed bowling, crafts, cards, reading and line dancing. She is survived by Husband: Fred Berto, Amherst; Sons: Daniel (Ginger) Berto, Georgetown, Texas; Michael Berto, Amherst; Daughters: Patricia (George) Guyant, Hortonville; Jane (Len) Pascavis, Plover; 8 Grandchildren; 1 Step Grandson; 8 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Doris Jacob, Neenah; Brothers: Walter (Theresa) Helbach, Stevens Point; John (Judy) Helbach, Neenah. Ruthe was preceded in death by One Daughter: Jean Szymkowiak; and One Brother: Edward J. Helbach. Memorial Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church, Amherst, Wisconsin at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 15th, with Father Robert Pedretti officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10-11 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church Building Fund.
