Sandra L. Konkol's Obituary
Sandra, better known as Sandy Konkol, age 82, of Amherst, WI, passed away on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband of 59 years. Sandy was the only child born of the late Rodney and Esther (Bauer) Krueger on September 9, 1942. She attended grade school at St. Stephen Catholic Church and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in the class of 1960.
Sandy was employed at the Paper Mill in Stevens Point for a couple of years. She then moved to Milwaukee in 1962 to join her husband to-be, Glenn Konkol. That began a 35 year career at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. Sandy and her husband were married on June 11, 1966 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Stevens Point, WI.
Following retirement in 1998, Sandy and Glenn moved back to their roots in Amherst, WI. Sandy became active at St. James Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, CCD teacher at St. James, visiting the sick, delivering communion to the elderly at various nursing homes, coordinating the annual craft/bake sale and was past President of the Altar Society for 4 years, now known as the PCCW at St. James. She was also the coordinator for the BABES puppet show at Amherst Grade School for second graders. She was also a volunteer for Relay for Life. Sandy's interests also included Counted Cross Stitch and Crocheting. She also enjoyed baking and trying new recipes. Her Dog, Becky Lou, was Love of her life.
Sandy is survived by Husband, Glenn, Amherst, WI, 4 cousins in California and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst at 11 AM on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, with Father Jerzy Rebacz, officiating. Interment will be at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Amherst.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 9 AM until the time of the service at the church.
