SELMA R. BRADEN
WAUPACA, WI Age 94 - died on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Bethany Home in Waupaca, WI. She was born on July 24, 1912 in the Twp. of St. Lawrence, Waupaca County, WI, a daughter of the late Halvor and Emma (Anderson) Larson. She married Paul J. Braden on October 22, 1938 in Milwaukee, WI. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1962. Selma is survived by two sons: Eugene R. Braden of Cape Coral, FL, and Gerald J. Braden of Milwaukee, WI, two daughters: Charlotte A. (Donald) Schmidt of Iola, WI, and Lucille K. Braden of Waupaca, WI, a step-son: Daniel P. (Joyce) Braden of Milwaukee, WI, five grandchildren: James (Maureen) Schmidt, Lisa (Michael) Schiavi, Roland (Kimberly) Schmidt, Nicole (Jeremy) Lowell, and Jeffrey Braden, five step-grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Paul J. Braden, a step-son: Paul R. Braden, a grandson: Donald D. Schmidt, her parents, three brothers: LeRoy Larson, Oliver Larson, and Elmer Larson, and a sister: Amanda Minton. Selma was a devoted Christian, mother, and homemaker. She was a thirty year member of the First Baptist Church of Waupaca. She enjoyed playing piano on occasion at the church. She also enjoyed playing piano at the Waupaca Senior Center. She had been employed in the janitorial department of the General Electric Medical Systems in Milwaukee from 1962 – 1974. After moving to Waupaca she worked in the elementary school library from 1974 – 1997. A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Waupaca, WI on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 11:30 AM, with the Reverend Larry Gross, officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in New Berlin, WI on Monday, September 18, 2006. Friends may call at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI on Friday, September 15, 2006 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, and at the church on Saturday morning, one hour prior to the time of the funeral service. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
