Sharon L. Thurner's Obituary
Sharon Lee Thurner passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer.
Sharon was born in Manistique, MI on March 14, 1941 to Rosaire (Pike) and Adaline LaLonde.
She was the youngest of seven children. Philip, Gladys, Florence (Flo), John,
Roland (Cookie)…never knew his first name before! and Sally. Around the time Sharon was 2 years old, she went to live with Edward and Helen Craddock, whom she called Mom and Dad. They moved to California shortly thereafter. She had an older brother Daylon, and later came Cathy and baby brother John. They were a blended family before it was cool. A blind date went extremely well. She met what she called a “country hick” Marine named Duane. They were married on base and he dragged – oops
“brought” her home to Clintonville Wisconsin. Married May 23, 1959 they enjoyed 57 years and 1 hour together. Two children, oldest though not wisest, Randy and the beautiful Mary came shortly after.
For the last 25 years she enjoyed winters in Biloxi, MS. Many lifelong friends were made at the same campground. Enjoying the casinos and Bingo with her girlfriends helped keep her busy.
Here at home, she loved her home, yard with massive flower beds and the wildlife she fed (overly)
and every dog she every owned. Will we miss her sarcastic humor? Or ability to ALWAYS get the worst food no matter where we took her?
No….we will not…. BUT – We will miss her spontaneous outbursts of laugher, and the love she shared with us.
Sharon is survived by her son Randy (Nancy) Thurner; her beautiful daughter Mary Madson; grandchildren Melissa and Scott and Great Grandson Jacob; her brother Cookie LaLonde, John (Barb) Craddock, her sisters Sally Stefanka, Cathy (Bob) Doris and sisters-in-law Betty (John) LaLonde and Judy (Jack )Jirikowic; her brother-in-law Bill (Bunny) Jensen, along with all the many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 10am at the Faith Community Church in Waupaca. Pastor Josh Nelson is officiating. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday from 9 am until the time of the service at 10 am at the church. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
