Shirley O’Mara Morgan
Scandinavia, WI Age 86 – died on Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, WI. She was born on May 4, 1922 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of William R. and Helen (Braun) O’Mara. She married John B. Morgan on June 5, 1946 in Detroit, MI. Shirley is survived by her husband John B. Morgan, her daughter; Susan (James) Townsend of Waupaca, her sons; William (Linda) Morgan of Golden, CO, John (Lisa) Morgan of Scandinavia, Steve (Angie) Morgan of Scandinavia, and Jim Morgan of Scandinavia, grandchildren: Shannon (Aran) Walter, Keeley Townsend, Joshua Morgan, Erin Morgan, Jeremy Morgan, Lindsey (Travis) Heckens, Steve Morgan, and seven great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister; Yvonne Andre of Port St. Lucie, FL and her niece; Cheryl (Don) Shebesta of Port St. Lucie, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother-in-law: Ed Andre. Shirley was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Waupaca, serving on the Altar Guild, as a Sunday school teacher, and organizing the Prayer Chain. She was also an active member of the Cursillo Community. She was an artist and a writer, and had several articles published. Shirley had been self-employed as a basket weaver. She had worked for a while with Tom Karavakis when he organized the Add-Inc. Company in Waupaca. She had also been a Ward Clerk at the Riverside Community Memorial Hospital in Waupaca. She enjoyed gardening, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A celebration of the life of Shirley Morgan will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Waupaca, WI on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 11:00 AM, with Father Nigel Jay Bousfield officiating. A visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca on Monday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and can be directed to the Shirley Morgan memorial fund, P.O. Box 184, Scandinavia, WI 54977 to be distributed to various charities. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements. The family extends a special Thank You to Dr. Earl Anderson and the nursing staff of Riverside Medial Center in Waupaca for their loving care.
