Signa Rieben's Obituary
Signa Helene Rieben passed away peacefully after a short hospital stay, in Hinsdale Illinois, on August 28, 2006. She was born April 7, 1909 in Port Edwards, Wisconsin. Her parents were John & Oline Johnson. On July 19, 1932, she married Rev. Robert Rieben and worked faithfully by his side until his death in 1987. Together they started many churches in Wisconsin for the Assemblies of God. In addition, they pastored churches in Michigan, Indiana and Florida. Her favorite place to be was in church. She was a member of Trouble Creek Assembly of God Church in New Port Richey, Florida. Music was an important part of her life as she played piano and organ for many churches. She was an elementary teacher for 35 years, and continued, past retirement, to be an avid reader and a life-long learner. She was the happiest when she was surrounded by her family. Signa is survived by: Daughters: Judy (Daryl) Unnasch of Oakbrook, IL; Marilyn (David) Coker of Prior Lake, MN;
Sons: John (Connie) Rieben of New Glarus, WI & Rev. Gary (Barbara) Rieben of Nixa, MO.
Nine Grandchildren: Brad (Vickie) Unnasch, Derek Unnasch, Holly (Greg) Kewin, Chris Rieben, Rob (Rosa) Rieben, Brett Rieben, Chad Rieben, Aaron Coker, Meghan Coker
Three Great-Grandchildren: Anna, Olivia & Emily Unnasch
Sisters: Jennie Streblow, of Granite Fall, MN & Marge Herrick of Mentor, OH
Sister-in-law: Ethel Johnson of Wis. Rapids, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rev. Robert Rieben, three brothers, Joe Johnson of Chicago, IL, Russell Johnson of Wisconsin Rapids, & George Johnson of Salem, OR. A burial service was held on Sat., Sept. 3rd, at Spencer Lake Memorial Cemetery with Signa's son, Rev. Gary Rieben officiating. A memorial service of her life will be held at First Assembly of God Church in Waupaca, WI, at 11:00 A.M. on Sept. 29, 2006. Rev. Gary Rieben will officiate. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, Wisconsin is assisting the family with the arrangements.
