Sterling G. Steele's Obituary
Sterling G. Steele, age 78 of King, WI, formerly of Ripon. Died Friday, September 20, 2019 at Wisconsin Veteran Home in King, WI.
He was born on September 30, 1940 in Ripon, son of the late George and Catherine (Vogds) Steele
Sterling was the fourth generation to run the insurance agency when he took over from his father, George Steele. At the time, the business was over 120 years old. The Steele Agency was the oldest family owned insurance company in Ripon, started by his Great Grandfather in 1862, selling insurance to farmers.
He enjoyed biking, researching and following the stock market and his passion was baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs. Sterling, also, enjoyed his views of the Mill Pond in Ripon and took immaculate care of his 1966 convertible Mustang.
Sterling is survived by his brothers, Stephen (Yvonne) Steele of Eden Prairie, MN and Gordon (Deb) Steele of Appleton, WI; six nieces and nephews and ten great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parent, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret “Peggy” Steele.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Wisconsin Veteran Home in Olson Hall Chapel in King, WI. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. on Friday until the time of services.
