I was good friends and a co-worker of Steve's, when he worked for American Potato Co. in Plover, during the 70's. At that time, he lived with his sister Barb in Stevens Point. He and I had a lot of great times at work and during days off. I knew he had left Stevens Point and went to work for the Monroe Police Dept. but lost contact with him in the 80's. I tried searching for him a number of times, on the internet but failed to locate him. NOW, I find him.......too late. I wish I could have found him before his death. He was such a great guy ! I still can hear him laugh, to this day.

I'm so very sorry to hear of this great loss to Steve's family and friends. I very much enjoyed Steve's humor and energy back in the day. He was at Monroe PD and I was a deputy sheriff at Green County in those days. Steve loved working the Square.... He was a good friend and mentor. May you Rest in Peace my friend.

Saddened to learn of Steven's passing. I enjoyed a business relationship with Steve during the time he was a Monroe Police Officer and other matters he and I discussed over the years.

He was truly a good friend to the Monroe community.

Steve was a good friend of mine and a fellow brother in blue and a brother veteran in arms. We worked together many years at Monroe PD. We had a lot of fun together and he had a great sense of humor. Steve was always there to help someone out in need. Steve was a great cook and would treat us at work once in awhile with his cookies and brownies he baked. I will miss Steve's laugh and him being around. My sympathy to his family and real close personal friends.

Steve was a good friend, I lived near him in 1980 and he would call and say to come over for some lunch and he could cook! He would bowl with us when he was off duty, always fun to be around. He was happy to drive up to Blanchardville to surprise us and meet our first daughter with a sweet gift. It is sad he is gone too soon. My condolences to all of his family.

in honor of Steven.

Quite a few years ago about 6:30 a.m.on a very cold (well below zero) Sunday morning I was walking my 95 pound lab/dane mix on the west side of Monroe...I fell on the ice and broke my arm..How bad I didnt know...I was behind a gas station..and I managed to get to the front of the station and inside (with my dog)...Steve happened to be in there (maybe for a coffee.. who knows) but he took one look at me and said "Hes going into shock..Ive got to get him to the hospital" and he was right...I had broken my arm in three places..I did go in to shock..The station worker called my wife to come and get my dog...and Steve hurried me to the emergency room at the hospital and he was very correct..I was in shock!! I dont know what I would have done if he hadnt been "Johnny on the spot for me"...I have been forever grateful and I think about that day quite often...Just another time when a police officer goes above and beyond their duty...Thanks again Officer Becker and Rest in Peace!!! Very sad to lose a friend and fellow "brother in blue". I enjoyed working with him for so many years at MPD. I also enjoyed fishing with him, playing cards, and a time or two at the casino in Dubuque. "Beek" was friendly, and had a great sense of humor, and always ready to help out when someone needed it. And being the great cook that he was, I did enjoy a few meals that he prepared. He will certainly be missed. My sympathies and condolences to his family.

Steve was a true brother in blue. We worked together many years at the PD. He always carried a passion for serving others. He enjoyed sharing his culinary skills with his delicious recipes. It was always fun to hear the stories about "winning" at the casinos. My condolences to his family and close friends. He will be missed.

We knew Steve when we lived in Monroe in the late 80's, in fact he was an usher at our wedding in 1987.
