Susan D. Erickson's Obituary
Susan Dawn Erickson (Shriver), 55, of Amherst peacefully ended her struggle with liver cancer and began her journey into the heavens during the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 27, 2010. She passed away with her children and loving family by her side at Saint Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, WI.
Sue was born April 8, 1955, in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Lorna (Martin) Shriver. She was a 1973 graduate of Bay View High in Milwaukee and a 1978 graduate of UW-La Crosse. She was the former spouse of Ross Dick of Amherst Junction, and Eric Erickson of Amherst. Sue proudly worked in Medical Staff Affairs at Saint Michael’s Hospital for the last 22 years. She truly loved her work and her entire Saint Michael’s family.
She called the wonderful community of Amherst her home for the past 26 years, where she enjoyed being outdoors, long walks, resting near and swimming in lakes, supporting Amherst High School athletics, golfing with her ladies, preparing creative family meals and Green Bay Packer hors d’oervres, listening to music, dancing, and laughing with a group of friends over a glass of wine.
Sue is survived by her three children, Brittany Dick, Travis Dick, and Emily Erickson, all of Amherst; her parents, Jack and Lorna Shriver of Greenfield, WI; her sisters, Vickie (Don) Fahrenkrug of Pagosa Springs, CO, and Cinda (Garrick) Zielinski of Franklin, WI; nieces and nephews, Terra (Eric), Gerard, Gene, Grant (Stephanie), and Janelle; and special friends Chris and Kevin Dombrowski, and an honorary daughter Gwendolyn Casey.
Sue was preceded in death by a nephew Gavin.
Sue always lived life to the fullest, made the best of each and every day, and always put her children first. She was the most passionate and selfless mother, daughter, sister, friend, and co-worker.
A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday November 1, 2010 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst. Pastor Dwight Anderson will officiate. A visitation will be held on Sunday October 31, 2010 from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst, and again at the church from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at 11 A.M.
