Sylvan R. Kvaley's Obituary
Sylvan "Bunkey Allen" Kvaley died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the VA Memorial Hospital in Madison. He was born on April 27, 1944 to Sylvan and Hazel Kvaley in Neenah. Bunkey grew up in Amherst and was raised by his grandma Mabel Allen. He married Joyce (Berto) Arena in 1961 and later divorced.
Bunkey served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. He worked as a long shoreman at the Port of Milwaukee for many years and later moved back to Amherst where he drove truck for his uncle. Since 1992 he and his fiancée, Janice Calvey, have enjoyed spending their time together hunting, fishing, gardening, gambling, and camping. Bunkey always enjoyed spending his time visiting with friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Survivors include his best friend and love of his life, Janice Calvey; daughters DeDe (Pat) Casey, Lorie (John Kowalski) Miller; step-daughter Jenny (Dave) Tovar; "adopted" daughter Lisa Rausch; grandchildren Chrissy (Jerry) Bowen, Travis Barutha; great grandchildren Jordon, James, Dayton, Hayli, step great grandchildren Haley, Marcus, Alexis, and Aidan; half siblings David (Pat) Kawleski, Darlene (Richard) Christianson, Bobby (Georgia) Kawleski; aunts Tina Vickery (California), Audrey Allen (Florida); sister-in-law Barb (Kevin) Hatch (Nebraska).
Bunkey was a very generous, well-liked, and a kindhearted man who always enjoyed having his friends stop over for a visit. His sense of humor and laugh will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst from 12:00 (Noon) until 3 PM on Sunday, July 17th, 2016.
