Dr. Teodoro "Ted" P. Romana's Obituary
Teodoro P. Romana, Jr. (Ted), 80 years old of Wild Rose, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton after enduring a long battle with brain cancer and its complications.
He was born in Luisiana, Laguna, Philippines to Teodoro Romana, Sr. and Amparo Peñalosa. Ted graduated in 1962 with a degree of Doctor of Medicine at the Far Eastern University, in the Philippines. In 1963, he came to the United States for residency in Internal Medicine at Fordham Misericordia Hospital in New York City, where he met his wife Teresita Ungos, M.D. They married on May 17, 1969 in New York City. He took a Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at the VA Administration Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He did private practice in Saugatuck, Michigan, prior to settling in Wild Rose, Wisconsin in the early 1980s where he spent many years practicing at the Wild Rose Hospital and Wild Rose Clinic. Ted retired in 2000, but driven by his love for medicine, he went back to clinical practice part-time at the Aurora Medical Center, the VA Hospital in Superior, WI, and at various correctional facilities throughout the state.
Ted was an amazing and loving man, and his family was his pride and joy. In the early years of marriage while raising his four daughters, he made sure they were exposed to different places and people through vacations and life enriching experiences. Travel was his passion as well as gardening.
He is survived by his wife Teresita Ungos and four daughters: Gina (Whitefish Bay, WI), Sheila (Los Angeles, CA), Cheryl (Scott) Haryn (Shoreview, MN), Terry (Scott) Thompson (Chicago, IL); grandchildren Emmett, Evan, and Elliot Haryn, and Ryan, Alexis, and Gianna Thompson; sister Vivian (Romulo) Go, brothers Danilo, Himer (Violeta), and numerous cousins, in-laws, nephews and nieces in his extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Evelyn (Florencio) Salvador and Fe Romana, and sisters-in-law Aurora and Dolores Romana.
