"Tex" Vernon Keenlance's Obituary
“Tex” Vernon Keenlance, 80, passed away in Wild Rose, WI on February 14, 2016. He was born in Waushara County on March 18, 1935, where he resided his entire life and became somewhat of a legend. He graduated from Tri-County High School in Plainfield, WI.
He served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard of Wisconsin. Tex retired from the Milwaukee area in 1994 and resided on Kusel Lake during his retirement years.
Tex is survived by a sister, Adeline Kramer, 2 nephews, 1 niece, 3 great nieces, 3 step children and his 23 year companion Jac Woehler. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a daughter, 2 step children and a brother-in-law.
Tex was an avid hunter of turkey, deer, bear, and moose. He also loved fishing, both summer and winter, for anything, from pan fish to spearing sturgeon. They’re all little safer now. He also enjoyed gambling, bowling, gardening, and having his “famous fish fries”.
He was a member of the Wisconsin Sheet Workers Local 18 since 1956. Tex was one of the founders WRK Fishing Club as well as a past president and Board of Directors member. He was also a member of Springwater Improvement Association, Wild Rose Area Improvement Association, AARP, NRA, and the world’s only Chapter Of Moles Unlimited.
The Holly Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wild Rose Lions Club on Saturday March 5, 2016 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm with military honor ceremony at 2:30pm. A private burial will be held at a later date. Food and refreshments to follow. A memorial fund has been established for his favorite charities.
