Thomas G. Harvey's Obituary
Thomas G. “Big T” Harvey, 75, formerly of Amherst, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024 at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI. Tom was born to the late Gardner and Ruby Harvey on May 31, 1948. He graduated from Amherst HS in 1966 and enlisted in the Army shortly thereafter. He enjoyed his service in Japan and reenlisted for another year. After his time in the Army, Tom began working as an operating room technician at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. He then transferred to Zablocki Medical Center in Milwaukee where he retired in 2013 after 30 years.
Tom was an avid NASCAR fan having attended several races over the years, his favorite being Daytona. He enjoyed Badgers, Bucks, Brewers and, in particular, Packers games. One of his favorites to brag about was attending the Ice Bowl on December 31, 1967 with his brother, Tim and thousands of other brave fans. Tom stayed true to his school, following AHS throughout the years. His hobbies included assembling model cars, music, golf, and his true love - the Dale Earnhardt Edition 2002 Monte Carlo.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Gardner and Ruby Harvey; his sister Deborah DeBruin, and infant sister Laurie. He leaves behind one brother Timothy (Kathy) Harvey; brother-in-law David DeBruin; niece Megan Harvey; nephew Andrew (Hayley) Harvey; great nieces Madelyn and Emma, and great nephew Chance.
A memorial service will be held on Friday February 2, 2024 at 12 P.M. at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst, WI. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday February 2, 2024 from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at 12 P.M. at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst, WI. A private burial of cremains will be held in the summer.
