Thomas R. Mumbrue's Obituary
Thomas R. Mumbrue, 67, of Waupaca, WI, passed away on November 15, 2025, surrounded by family who loved him deeply. He was born on July 2, 1958, in Waupaca, Wisconsin, where he grew up in a proud rodeo family.
A cowboy to his core, he rode bulls with the kind of fearlessness that defined his life, earning his place at the national finals. Before and after the arena, he worked on ranches, oil rigs, and even helped build dams out West. He never shied away from work that demanded strength, grit, and skill.
Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, he became a master builder/carpenter and construction contractor where he owned and operated his own business. He took immense pride in his craft. He enjoyed watching historical documentaries, home projects, writing poetry on occasion, and he loved to have a good time laughing, telling jokes, listening to music, and dancing.
But above all, he was proud of his family where he came from and the ones he raised. His family heritage mattered to him, and he passed down those values through stories, skills, and moments that will never be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Laurie Mumbrue; his son, Tyler Mumbrue; his sister, Terri Mykisen; and his two brothers, Timothy Mumbrue and Teddy Mumbrue; his parents, Lavern “Chuck” Mumbrue and Betty (Rasmussen) Sorenson. He is survived by his step mother Barb Mumbrue; siblings, Todd (Terri) Mumbrue and Tina Spierings; brother-in-law Myke Mykisen; children, Michael (Joanne) Parnham, Brooke (Jason) Mader, Tallie Mumbrue, Tasha Mumbrue, and Matthew Mumbrue; along with 9 grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy.
