THOMAS P. ORSUND
Amherst, WI Age 54 – died on Saturday, December 24, 2005 at his residence. He was born on August 16, 1951 in Long Prairie, MN, the son of Wallace and Carol (Garster) Orsund. He married Marilyn A. Konkol on May 3, 1980 in Amherst, WI. Thomas is survived by his wife: Marilyn, a son: Joseph (Natalie) Orsund of Amherst, a daughter: Jennifer (special friend: Ryan Wilson) of Amherst, a granddaughter: Kaylie Orsund, his father: Wallace (Terri) Orsund of Aitkin, MN, his mother: Carol Zinke of Coon Rapids, MN, three sisters: Mary (Larry) Stenquist of Andover, MN, Peggy (Leon) Schendel of Champlin, MN, and Nancy (Earl) Klersy of Rogers, MN, a brother: Wally (Cheri) Orsund of Ramsey, MN, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by infant siblings: Wallace M. and Debbie Lynn Orsund, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Thomas moved to Amherst in 1977 while working for the Soo Line Railroad. In January of 1985 he stated working with CAP services out of Stevens Point. He had been a Housing Coordinator for Cap Services. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. Tom was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He had also been a coach for the Amherst High School Girls Basketball Team. He also enjoyed metal detecting, going to auctions, and collecting antiques. He also thoroughly enjoyed being a dad and grandpa. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2005 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst, WI, with the Reverend Gretchen Anderson, officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst. Friends may call at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst on Thursday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, and at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. A Prayer service will be held at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in memory of Thomas P. Orsund. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
