Thomas "Tom" A. Telfer's Obituary
Tom Telfer passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, after a courageous seven-year battle with brain tumors. Tom was born on August 16, 1953, to Jerome and Marjorie (Rasmussen) Telfer.
Tom dedicated 41 years of his life to the Waupaca County Highway Department. He loved his work, taking pride in learning to operate all types of machinery and always challenging himself to do his best. The county employees that Tom worked with were not just co-workers but longtime friends. Tom never complained, serving his community with diligence and care.
A true family man, Tom treasured time with his loved ones. On May 5, 1973, he married his best friend, Linda (Winkler), and together they shared a beautiful life, raising their two daughters and later cherishing moments with their four grandsons.
Tom loved the outdoors, finding joy in camping, fishing, and hunting. He had a kind and gentle nature, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Known for his warm spirit, Tom also loved to sing, bringing smiles to those around him.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Telfer; his daughters, Jennifer (Patrick) Chapel and Laura (Lucas) Ludeman; and his beloved grandsons, Landon, Lawson, and Layton Ludeman, and Jaxon Chapel. He is further survived by his brother, Robert (Dawn) Telfer; sister, Karen (Jerry) Lyons; in-laws Rick (Kaye) Winkler and Mark Winkler; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Tom was a loyal friend, always ready with a helping hand and a kind word and his friendship was deeply valued by many of his closest friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 21, at 10:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until the time of service. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
Tom will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his work, and his community, as well as his kindness, love for the outdoors, and gentle spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, compassion, and love that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
