Thomas R. Wanty's Obituary
Thomas Roy Wanty, age 67, of Waupaca, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 2, 1958, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Tom lived a full and vibrant life rooted in hard work, family, and the simple joys he treasured most.
Tom was a man who found joy in the everyday—whether working the carnival, spending hours at the bowling alley, or sharing stories with his grandchildren. His laugh was infectious, his presence steady, and his love for family unwavering.
He is survived by his loving wife, Renee Wanty, with whom he shared many meaningful years. He leaves behind two devoted children: his daughter Mary Anderson and her husband Adam Anderson, and his son Justin Wanty and his wife Deidra Nies-Wanty.
Tom was a proud and devoted Papa to Jessica Anderson, Riley Eckrich, Kaleb Anderson, Levi Anderson, Emily Anderson, Hudsyn Anderson, Gary Nies-Wanty, Liam Nies-Wanty, Zane Nies-Wanty, Area Nies-Wanty, and Athena Nies-Wanty.
He is also survived by his siblings: Lisa Dorion-Kocanda, Becky Wanty, and Robby Wanty.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Marlene and Robert Wanty; his brother, Tim Wanty; and many beloved grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Whether working behind the scenes at the carnival or sharing a lane at the bowling alley, Tom brought warmth, laughter, and kindness into the lives of those who knew him. But more than anything, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and proud Papa whose legacy will live on through his family.
A private memorial will be held with close family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to spend time with those you love—just as Tom always did
