Velma Dawson's Obituary
Velma Vel E. Dawson, age 83, of Appleton, WI, formerly of Wild Rose, WI passed away Wednesday, March 19th, 2008 in Appleton. She was born in Boyceville, WI on July 4, 1924, the daughter of Clare and Vivien (Welch) Throne. Vel was active in the Appleton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Appleton DeMolay Mothers, and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. Her hobbies and interests included: gardening, bird watching, and scouring ocean beaches for stones, shells, and driftwood. Vel also enjoyed doing crafts including stained glass candles, pottery, dried floral arrangements, and water colors. She greatly enjoyed her years after retirement living in her home in the woods at Pineland Park near Wild Rose.

She is survived by Sons: Terry (Marsha) Dawson, Appleton, WI; Larry (Nancy) Dawson, Appleton, WI; Grandchildren: Gillian, Brennan, and Jesse; Great Grandchildren: Alexus and Sean; Sister: Ione (Jim) Holman, Waupaca, WI. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Vel was preceded in death by her parents. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, with Reverend Joan Frost officiating. Interment will be in the Parfreyville Cemetery, Town Dayton, Waupaca County, Wisconsin. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home in Waupaca from 1 PM until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established to benefit Appleton Medical Center Foundation. A special thanks to the staff of Golden Home in Appleton, for making her last months comfortable.
