Verne (Husky) Hansen's Obituary
Verne E. (Husky) Hansen, age 93, of Iola, formerly of Amherst, passed away on Monday, June 6th, 2011 at Saint Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point. He was born in Town of Lanark, Portage Co., WI., on May 31, 1918, he was the son of the late Elmer and Ellen (Hebblewhite) Hansen. He married Ruth Patoka on May 25, 1946 in the Town of Lanark. She survives. Husky was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst. He was a member of the Tomorrow River Lions Club, T.R. Conservation Club, Amherst Volunteer Fire Department, Amherst Fair Board, Trustee for the Amherst Village Board and the Cemetery Board. Husky loved hunting, fishing, bowling and the Portage Co. Fair. Survivors include his Wife: Ruth Hansen, Amherst, WI.; Daughters: Sally Woyak, Amherst, WI; Mary (Carl) Pionkowski, Amherst, WI; Grandchildren: Chris Woyak; Todd Woyak; Shane (Jackie) Pionkowski; Kevin Pionkowski; Brian Pionkowski; Great Grandchildren: Haley, Courtney & Dylan Woyak; Caden, Cael, Liam, Eva & Eden Pionkowski; Sisters: Eva Peterson; Lucille Peterson; Beverly (Leonard) Lane. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather - Paul Morey, infant daughter - Susie Marie, son-in-law - Larry Woyak, brother - Louis Hansen, infant sister - Cora Hansen and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Funeral Service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst at 11 AM on Friday, June 10th, 2011, with Reverend Dwight Anderson, officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in the name of Verne E. Hansen.
