Walter Ciura's Obituary
Walter J. Ciura, age 85, of Waupaca, WI, passed away Tuesday, March 21st, 2006 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 5, 1920, the son of Jacob and Mary (Reidel) Ciura. Walter married Meta Ina Quimby on October 12, 1946 in Waupaca. She preceded him in death on April 16, 1996. Walter was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Walter was a lifetime farmer, and he also owned a horse stable and antique shop. He served as chairman for the Town of Dayton for 34 years. In addition, Walter spent 29 of those years as the Town of Dayton's representative on the Waupaca County Board of Supervisors where he served as its chairman from 1988-90. Walter is survived by: Niece: Kathleen R. Hadley, Sturgeon Bay, WI; Children: Bruce (Mary) Ciura, Waupaca, WI; Sidney (Mona) George, California; Grandchildren: Patty Zempel, Merrill, WI; Bill Ciura, Waupaca, WI; Penny (Tom Stea) Drmolka, Wild Rose, WI; Wally Ciura, Wild Rose, WI; Dennis (Linda) George, Plover, WI; Mike George, Wild Rose, WI; Bruce (Kathy) George, Ringle, WI; Daughter-in-law: Margaret Ciura, Wild Rose, WI; Sister-in-law: Etola (Jim) Bowersox, Waupaca, WI; Brothers-in-law: Bill (Liz) Quimby, Waupaca, WI; Don (Bev) Tessen, Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Meta Ciura; son, Charles Ciura and a grandson, Ron George. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, April 1st, 2006 at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca with Pastor Jeffrey S. Fletcher officiating. Interment of cremains will be in Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday from 1 - 2 PM at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in Walter's name.
