Walter H. Tess' Obituary
Walter H. Tess, age 89, of Almond, WI, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009 peacefully at his home under the care of hospice. Walter was born in the Town of Almond on February 7, 1920, the son of the late Henry and Emma (Hetzel) Tess. On June 12, 1948, Walter married Virginia Sawyer in Almond. Walter was a vegatable farmer for many years and one of the first farmers in the area to use irrigation. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling and travel. He is a member of the Almond United Methodist Church. Walter is survived by his wife: Virginia Tess, Almond; his children: Nancy Otto, LaSalle, IL; Wayne (Trudy) Tess, Plainfield; Robert (Tara) Tess, Omaha, NE; Neal (Sylvia) Tess, Stevens Point and Bruce Tess, Almond; 3 Grandchildren: Erin (Jordon) Mears; Stacey Tess and Eugene Tess. Walter was preceded in death by 1 sister, 2 brothers and a son in law, Roger Otto. Memorial Services will be on Saturday, March 14 at 4 PM at Almond United Methodist Church with Reverend David Leistra, officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Elmwood Cemetery later this summer. Memorial visitation will be on Sat. from 2:30 PM until the time of services at the church. In leiu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Walter's name. Hardell-Holly Funeral Home in Almond is assisting the family with arrangements.
