Walter Leppen's Obituary
Walter K. Leppen, age 93, of Nelsonville, WI, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Walter was born in the Town of New Hope, Portage County on December 25, 1913, the son of the late Einar and Ida (Waller) Leppen. On December 27, 1952, Walter married Carla I. (Kjer) Oberman and she preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 2003. Walter was part owner of Wallers Meat Market in Nelsonville since 1947. He is a member of Nelsonville Lutheran Church and he served in the U.S. Marines during World War II. Walter is survived by his children: Judy (Lee) Larson of Amherst; Walter (Karla) Leppen of Stevens Point and Linda (Wayne) Carey of Amherst; his ten grandchildren: Beth (Wayne) Borgen of Amherst; Brett Carey of Stevens Point; Bonnie (Michael) Warzynski of Almond; Aaron (Sarah) Oberman of Reedsburg; Nathan Oberman of Chicago; Shauna (Aaron) Parkhurst of Madison; Andrew Leppen of Plover; Kenneth Leppen of West Bend; Jennifer (Josh Chiamulera) Leppen of Rhinelander and Travis Larson of Amherst; his Fourteen great-grandchildren and a Sister: Lydia Balthazar of Iola. Walter was also preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Oberman, four brothers, Elmer, Ernest, Howard and Sidney and a sister, Alice Leppen Funeral Service will be on Saturday, July 28 at 10 AM at Nelsonville Lutheran Church with Reverend Andrea Mwalilino, officiating. Burial will be in the Nelsonville Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday eve. from 4 to 8 PM at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst.
