Wanda J. Hines' Obituary
Wanda J. Hines (Smith), 85, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2021, after a brief illness.
Wanda was born on February 6, 1936, in Muncie, Indiana, to Brady and Alma (nee Choate) Smith. She graduated from Muncie Central High School. She worked for the Muncie Star Newspaper, Sears, and Todd Uniforms, always in customer service, when she was not working at home for her family.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Charles Hines; Her children, Cathy Gauerke (Daniel), Chuck Hines (Deb) and Whitney Turner (Dale); Grandchildren: Corey Turner (Audrey), Brent Turner, Kelsey Turner and Casey Hines; Siblings: Shirley Smith (Phyllis), Jerry Smith (Carolyn), Larry Smith, Bobby Smith, and Lois Bell; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Douglas Hines, her parents, and her siblings Sheldon Smith, Shellie Smith, Emma Lee Wright, and Billie Smith.
Wanda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend who will be deeply missed by all. Wanda never met a stranger who didn’t become a friend.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bethany Home Chapel in Waupaca at 12:00 (Noon) on Saturday, November 25th, 2023, with Reverend Dr. Charles Tews, officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN at a later date. Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 11 AM until the time of the service at Bethany Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Susan G Komen Foundation.
