Ward R. Whitney
Wautoma, WI (formerly of Saxeville, WI) Age 98 – passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Heartland House in Wautoma, WI surrounded by family. He was born on October 22, 1913 in North Fond du Lac, WI, the son of George and Hannah (Wade) Whitney. He married Irene E. Peterson on June 5, 1937 in Wild Rose, WI.
Ward is survived by his daughter: Janice (Jack) Richards of Wautoma, WI, granddaughters: Karen (Don) Gates of Bartlett, IL, and Kathleen (Giancarlo) Battaglini of Eagle, WI, grandsons: Gary (Belinda) Dassow, II of Ripon, WI, Jamie (Tammy) Dassow of Muskegon, MI, and Michael Dassow of Milwaukee, WI. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, special friend: Mary Malnory of Wild Rose, WI, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Irene, daughter: Barbara Sellers, three brothers: George, Walter, and Clyde Whitney, and sister: Irene Arthur.
Ward had been a long time member of the former Saxeville Baptist Church. He spent his early years growing up in Waushara County. His primary residence was in Wauwatosa, WI from the late 1930’s until 1996, at which time he moved back to Saxeville. He had been a maintenance supervisor for a lithograph company in the Milwaukee area for many years. He had a number of interests including being a gifted wood worker, making candles of all shapes and sizes, and crafting items from rock.
A memorial service will be held at the Saxeville Community Church (formerly Saxeville Baptist Church) in Saxeville, WI on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 11:00 am, with Pastor Jeff Fletcher, officiating. Interment will be in the Saxeville Union Cemetery in Saxeville. A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 am. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
