WAYNE “BO” BOSTAD
KING, WISCONSIN
FORMERLY OF MADISON, WISCONSIN Age 85, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. He was born April 25, 1925 in Madison, WI; son of William and Mabel (Nelson) Bostad. He lived 57 years of his life in Madison. Bo attended school there and graduated from Madison East High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from September 3, 1943 – November 14, 1945. He served as a Technical Sergeant, Radio Operator, and Gunner on a B-24 Liberator Bomber in the Fifth Air Force’s 65th Bombardment Squadron, 43rd Bombardment Group. He was stationed in the Philippines. Bo saw the cloud from the atom bomb dropped on Nagasaki. The mission that he was on was cancelled and his plane returned to base. Bo returned to the United States on October 17, 1945. He was decorated with the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters. After being honorably discharged, he worked as a mail carrier for the post office in Madison for 30 years. His mail routes were in the downtown area of Madison, and his last route was on the Capital Square just before he retired on February 22, 1983. Bo was a member of the Madison Masonic Lodge, the Montello VFW, Camel Patrol, and participated with the ZOR Shrine. Bo is survived by:

Great-Grandchildren: Sam Henning, Ashlynn Schmidt, Skylar Fosshage, Serenity Fosshage, and Noah Fosshage He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mabel Bostad, and one brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Bostad. A Private Family Committal Service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona, WI. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements. HOLLY FUNERAL HOME
