Wilford "Smokey" Cornwell's Obituary
Wilford F. "Smokey" Cornwell, age 72, of Wild Rose, WI passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Wild Rose Manor. Smokey was born in Wisconsin Rapids on May 23, 1943, the son of the late Orville and Gladys (Fogel) Cornwell. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in the recycling business for many years. He was an avid cribbage player. Smokey is survived by his son: Brian Cornwell, TX; his daughter: Brenda Cornwell, IL; his 5 grandchildren: Rashaan, Kane, Tanner, Ethan & Emma; his siblings: Mary (Richard) Earle, Wisconsin Rapids; Geraldine Krause, Wisconsin Rapids; Nancy "Nig" (Keith) Gormanson, Rudolph; Judith (Gary) McCrossen, Wisconsin Rapids; Lois Cornwell, Wisconsin Rapids; Louis "Buck" Cornwell, Vesper; Raymond Cornwell, Junction City; Francis "Frank" (Mary) Cornwell, Wisconsin Rapids and his very special friend, Laura Workowski . Smokey is also survived by many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Barbara Taylor and his brothers and sisters, Helen, Orville "Chuck", Robert "Bob", George, Dennis "Red" and Daniel "Dutch" The Memorial Service will be on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1 PM at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca with Father Ted Lewandowski, officiating. Military Rites will follow the services and burial will be at a later date in the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King, WI. Visitation will be on Saturday morning from 11 AM until 1 PM at the funeral home. Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
