William "Bill" P. Sund's Obituary
William “Bill” Pierce Sund, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and devoted Christian, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at the age of 88 with his wife by his side. Born on June 1, 1937, to Roy and Catherine (Pierce) Sund, William lived a life grounded in faith, service, education, and community involvement.
Bill attended Shattuck Senior High School in Neenah, Wisconsin, where he graduated proudly, receiving his diploma from his father, Roy Sund, the School Board President. During his school years, Bill was deeply involved in extracurricular activities, participating in band, choir, and student council. A gifted athlete, he earned eight varsity letters in football, basketball, baseball, and track. His dedication to academics and leadership also earned him recognition through the Honor Society.
Bill went on to attend the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, graduating in 1961. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the United States Army and faithfully served his country. Following active duty, he continued his military commitment by serving in the Army Reserve for an additional three years.
In 1968, Bill married Jean Langdon, she preceded him in death. On August 26, 2006 Bill married Suzanne Meyer. Together they shared faith, companionship, and a commitment to serving others. A man of deep and active Christian faith, Bill dedicated much of his life to his church community. He served on the church vestry council for 12 years and was elected Junior Warden on two occasions. Bill was a member of Marksmen, who met weekly to study Sunday morning scriptures. He was a member of the Appleton Lions Club for 27 years and the Waupaca Rotary Club for 21 years.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne; children, Mike (Carolyn) Sund, Kathlyn (Jeremy) Price, Julie (Len) Twetan, and John (Lia) Ryan; brother, James (Beverly) Sund; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Waupaca, WI. Followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Lakeside Memorial Park. Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements. Bill’s family would like to thank ThedaCare, Hospice Care and the staff at Bethany Home for their excellent care they provided for Bill.
