WILLIAM D. HACKNEY
KING, WISCONSIN
FORMERLY OF POY SIPPI Age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton, WI. He was born October 19, 1953 in Berlin, WI; son of William G. and Joyce (Evensen) Hackney. Bill graduated from Berlin High School in 1971. After graduating, he served as a head radio operator in the U.S. Marine Corps from July 24, 1972 – September 27, 1974. Bill loved driving tractor and enjoyed playing sheepshead. Everyone who knew Bill knew him by his big heart and by his opening line “Good Morning”, no matter what time of day it was. He was a former member of the Poy Sippi Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, a Past Commander of the Poy Sippi American Legion Post 514, and had taught hunter safety classes for 20 years. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. Bill is survived by:
Two Sisters: Karen McKenna of Green Bay, WI and her children, Scott & Jill
Kris (Jim) Doll of Pine River, WI and their children, Rachel & Lauren
Two Brothers: Jim (Kim Standke) Hackney of Redgranite, WI and his children, Tom (Mary), Kayla, Emily, & Clay
John (Lisa) Hackney of Wild Rose, WI and their children, Luke & Lacy
Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William G. and Joyce Hackney; an infant sister, Jane Colleen Hackney; and an infant brother, Thomas Evan Hackney. A Memorial Service will be on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 6:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, WI. Reverend David Sielaff will officiate. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the church. Burial will be at Welsh Cemetery in the Town of Aurora, WI. In life, Bill chose a simple and casual lifestyle so please come dressed accordingly. The Holly Funeral Home of Poy Sippi is assisting the family with arrangements. HOLLY FUNERAL HOME
