WILLIAM “MUSHROOM” LAURSEN, SR.
KING, WISCONSIN
FORMERLY OF NESHKORO, WISCONSIN Age 89, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 surrounded by his two daughters at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. He was born October 28, 1922 in Berwyn, IL; son of Christian K. and Pauline (Price) Laursen. William enlisted on January 22, 1943 in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII until he was honorably discharged on October 16, 1945 in Laredo, TX. The medals that William achieved during his service with the military were Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross Medal, American Theater Medal, Philippine Independence Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, and 3 Bronze Stars. William moved his family to Wisconsin in 1959 and traveled throughout the United States for work. He was a self-taught electrician and worked for many years for the IBEW Union. After retiring in 1996, he lived in Neshkoro, WI up until moving into the Wisconsin Veterans Home in July of 2010. William enjoyed traveling, dancing, and fishing. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. William is survived by:

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Pauline Laursen, and a grandson, Jason Gerard. Private Family Services were held. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements. A special thank-you to the nursing staff at Ainsworth Hall at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King for all of their help and support given to our family.
