Yvonne Feavel's Obituary
Yvonne D. Feavel nee Hendrickson passed away on 12-11-07 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Marshfield with her family at her side. She had fought a brave nine month battle with cancer. Yvonne was born 09-15-39 in River Falls, WI the daughter of Solon and Lillian Hendrickson. She graduated from River Falls High School and earned a degree in Education from University of WI- River Falls. She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work form the University of WI- Madison.
Her professional career included Probation and Parole Agent in Eau Claire, clinical and family social work in Rice Lake, Neenah, Calumet County, and Waushara County. She practiced school social work in Rice Lake and Oshkosh and at Sybil Hopp School in Brown County. She lectured at University of WI- Fox Valley. Her professional affiliations included National Association of Social Workers, Winnebago County Mental Health Association, and the Council on Exceptional Children. She married John S. Feavel on 06-28-69 in Appleton, WI and they enjoyed 38 years of marriage blessed by the birth of their daughter Jennifer on 03-06-72. Yvonne and John retired to enjoy life at Long Lake, Waushara County in 1998. Yvonne served as County Board Supervisor in Waushara County for the past 14 years. She had a long love affair with Wisconsin Lakes. She served as President of the Long Lake Association, President of Wisconsin Association of Lakes Board of Directors, and she chaired the 2001 International Conference for the North American Lakes Management Society in Madison, WI. She received the 2003 Wisconsin Association of Lakes Stewardship Award for service to Wisconsin Lakes. Yvonne was proud to have been appointed by the Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Shirley Abrahamson, to serve on the Board of Governors for the WI Bar Association. Her happiest moments were spent with her beloved grandchildren, Reed and Kelly, on the pontoon boat. She was preceded on death by her parents and her brother, Lyle Hendrickson. She is survived by her husband John - Waupaca, daughter Jennifer (Douglas Gieryn) and grandchildren Reed and Kelly – Neenah, father and mother-in-law Jack and Angela Feavel – Neenah, brother and sister-in-law Jim and Patti Feavel- Menasha, sister-in-law Irene Hendrickson – Inver Grove Heights, MN and special friends Sandy and John Barket. Visitation will be held Friday Dec. 14th from 4-8pm at the A.J. Holly and Sons Funeral Home at 526 S. Main St. in Waupaca. Visitation/funeral service will be held Saturday Dec. 15th from 9-11am at the Appleton Highland Memorial Park at 3131 N. Richmond Ave. in Appleton. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be given to the Wisconsin Association of Lakes or the American Cancer Society.
