Charles O. Iverson Jr.'s Obituary
Charles O. Iverson, Jr., age 92, of Waupaca, formerly of Amherst, passed away on Friday, June 5th, 2026 at Bethany Home in Waupaca. He was born in Amherst, WI on January 18, 1934, he was the son of the late Charles and Verona (Landfried) Iverson. Charlie graduated from Amherst High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Navy until November of 1957. He married Jean Godfrey in Waupaca on November 23, 1957.
After doing some part time work for Amherst Telephone Company, he became a full time employee in 1957 and was Plant Manager until his retirement in 1996.
Charlie was very active in the Amherst community throughout the years. He was on the Amherst Telephone Company (now Amherst Communications) Board of Directors and the Wisconsin Locally Owned Telephone Association. He was also a member of the Tomorrow River Lions since 1958 and served as a District Governor in 1981-82, The Tomorrow River Conservation Club and the Amherst VFW Post. He had also served in the Tomorrow River School Board, Amherst Fair Board and the Amherst Fire Department. He was a life-long member of Peace Lutheran Church and had served on that Church Council.
Charlie loved spending time with family and also loved golf, traveling and spending time in his workshop. Charlie and Jean enjoyed time in the winter in Southern Texas for many years and took many trips in the U.S. and overseas, including 4 trips to New Zealand to visit their former exchange student, Linda Bain.
Survivors include his Wife: Jean Iverson, Waupaca, WI; Children: Thomas (Gretchen) Iverson, Amherst, WI; Richard (Margaret) Iverson, Seymour, WI; Brian (Cathy) Iverson, Waupaca, WI; Grandchildren: Laura McGuire; Matthew (Breanna) Iverson; Joshua (Emily) Iverson; Great Grandson: Grant Iverson; Brother-in-law: Robert Godfrey; Step-Grandchildren: Miranda (Michael) Graceffa-O'Brien; Clayton (Julie) Graceffa; Adam (Kelly) Graceffa; Jeremiah Hoffman; Aaron Hoffman; Elizabeth (Charles) Hein; Step-Great Grandchildren: Charlie O'Brien, Mallory O'Brien, Joseph Graceffa, Camille Graceffa, Anthony Graceffa, Jack Graceffa, Anna Graceffa, Julia Hoffman, Asher Hein, Amelia Hein, Arabella Hein and Anson Hein. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Verona Iverson, brother-in-law, William Godfrey, sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and David Merrell.
The Funeral Service will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, in Amherst on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Dwight Anderson, officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Town of Amherst, Portage Co., WI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Peace Lutheran Church or the Amherst Fire District.
