Dr. Aylesworth was the first person I met when I toured UWSP in 1992. I was blessed to have graduated with my Masters in Speech Pathology the year that he retired. He was an awesome educator. I'll always remember the intro anatomy course he instructed. One time he was returning exams - most of us had done poorly. Before any of us could speak, he said, "I've heard a lot of grumbling about Aylesworth's lousy test - and before I get blasted, I want you to know that from time to time even I write a bad test - and this seems to be one of those times - so let's toss it and I'll write another one..." It was that kind of humility that made me want to be like Don - serious and intelligent, but never taking myself to serious and always acutely perceptive of the feelings of those around him. He had a large, posititive influence on my life - and career. A decade later, I am now the Director of Special Education for the School District of Reedsburg and oversee a staff of 6 SLPs!
