Donald U. Jones' Obituary
Donald Urban Jones passed away peacefully at home in Wild Rose on Monday, December 28, 2015. Don was born in June 1926 in Wild Rose to Eleanor (Urban) and Matthew Jones. Don graduated from Wild Rose High School before enlisting in the US Marine Corps during WW II. Particularly proud of his military service, Don participated in an Old Glory Honor flight in 2012. He worked for the State of Wisconsin his entire career, first with the Wisconsin Conservation Department followed by 32 years with the Wisconsin State Patrol, from which he retired in 1982 as a sergeant. Don loved telling stories, laughing with friends and family, and spending winters in Florida with his companion and trusty sidekick Gloria Hadden. He was an avid sports fan and loved following the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by brother Warren Jones, sisters Audrey Sommer and Virginia Jones, his wife of 31 years, Alberta (Schneider), and son Tim Jones. He is survived by his sister Alice Bechard, sons Matt Jones and Tom (Cheryl) Jones, his daughters Synda Jones and Marsha (Tom) Burzynski and granddaughters Anne (Derek) Zernach and Alyson Jones. Dad asked us to thank everyone who visited, sent cards, chatted on the phone and supported him and his family during his illness. He and the family were especially thankful for the care and support from his grand niece Jenny Frater, and Marie, Barb, Paula, Sina and others who visited from Theda Care at Home Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 10 am – noon on Thursday December 31, 2015 followed by services at noon at Holly Funeral Home, 630 County Rd. G & H, Wild Rose. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Fisher House Wisconsin, 5000 West National Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53295.
