John V. Olson's Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Vernon Olson of Scandinavia, WI, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Born on June 19, 1944, John left us too soon on May 24, 2026. John is survived by his children, Chad Olson, Kirsten Olson, and Erika Olson, his sister Janet Vaughn, his adoring grandson, Gavin Ellison, his nieces and nephews; along with many other relatives and friends who will all hold him in their hearts forever. John was predeceased by his mother, Laura Olson, and his beloved uncles and aunts, Vernon Hoyord, Allen Hoyord, Dagne Tweit, Lenwick Hoyord, and Vesta Anderson. He served valiantly in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that shaped him greatly. John was a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, class of 1973. His academic journey set the foundation of his successful farming career. John was a man of many passions. He relished in boating on the Waupaca Chain O’Lakes, spending time with his cherished dogs Gunner and Zina, and being in the company of family and friends. His love for skiing and visiting places like Brazil and Oregon exemplify his adventurous spirit. He will also be remembered for his love of music, and incredible sense of humor. But what perhaps defined him best was his faith in the Lord. His kind, honest, and fiercely protective nature made him a haven for his children and his children's friends. John’s spirit will forever be cherished and his lessons carried forward. His overwhelming love for his family, unmatched sense of humor, and unyielding faith in the Lord leave an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. "Dad, we are so blessed to have had you as a father, mentor, and friend. Thank you for always having our backs (even when we didn't make it easy). Words cannot express the profound loss we are feeling right now. Love you always. -Chad, Kirsten, and Erika.
