LaVerne C. Wassenberg's Obituary
LaVerne C. Wassenberg, age 91, of Wild Rose, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Rosemore Village in Wild Rose, WI. She was born July 20, 1926 in Menasha, WI; daughter of William and Elsie (Zacharias) Wassenberg. After graduating from Rhinelander High School, LaVerne attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Oshkosh and became a registered nurse, working for Hines VA Hospital in Illinois for 35 years. She was a longtime member of the Wild Rose Hospital Auxiliary and the Wild Rose Homemakers. LaVerne will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
LaVerne is survived by her brother, Dean (Sue) Wassenberg of Milwaukee, WI; a niece, Faith (Tony) Patrone of West Allis, WI; and a dear family friend, Joan (Jerry) Bitter of Oshkosh, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elsie Wassenberg, and two sisters, Audrey Pickett and Lorraine Feinstein.
A Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 8611 State Highway 54, Almond, WI 54909. Father Peter Manickam will preside. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery (Heffron) in the Town of Belmont following the mass on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the ThedaCare - Wild Rose Hospital Volunteer Scholarship Fund. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose is assisting the family with arrangements.
