Madella Sommer's Obituary
Madella Sommer, age 86, of Wild Rose, WI passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 at her residence under the care of Hospice. Madella was born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI on February 4, 1931, the daughter of the late Arthur and Nona (Smith) Robbins. She grew up in Wisconsin Rapids and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949. On August 18, 1951, Madella married Kenneth A. Sommer at the First United Methodist Church in Neenah, WI. She was the Town of Springwater Clerk for many years. Music was a very important part of her life. She was the Wild Rose United Methodist Church organist for 38 years and one of her favorite things was being an accompanist for the Wild Rose students for Solo & Ensemble for 35 years. Madella is survived by her husband: Kenneth Sommer, Wild Rose; her children: Stephen (Pam) Sommer, Frisco, NC and Sandra Sommer, Fond du Lac; her grandchildren: Jennifer (Brian) Abitz; Joshua Gable; Scott & Samantha Sommer and her 8 great grandchildren. Madella was preceded in death by her parents. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, March 15 at 11 AM at the Wild Rose United Methodist Church with Reverend Douglas Clement, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Wild Rose following the luncheon at church. Visitation will be on Wednesday morning from 9 AM to 11 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are greatly appreciated to the Wild Rose United Methodist Church. Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose is assisting the family with arrangements.
