To Mark, Larry, Vicki, and Tom and your families: Condolences are sent your way on the passing of your mother--a special lady indeed. Cousin Karen Knapton notified us here in Florida. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes remembering all the wonderful times we spent in Marshall (and even a few times in Wild Rose at the cottage of the Martins) on our summer vacations visiting Grandpa and Grandma Martin. (My mother was Helen Martin Lighthiser.) A summer vacation in Marshall was not complete unless we went to visit Victor and Sally while we were there. Many, many happy memories to be sure. In fact, during one of my last trips to Marshall with my Jeff (maybe mid-90s), we were staying with Aunt Della (Knapton) and we all made a special point of visiting with your mom and dad. We had a wonderful visit. Last Christmas Sally and I shared notes in our Christmas cards. I believe I shared some of our experiences with nature at our place in Tennessee. In fact, we have one bluebird house which has been inhabited at times, but we could have learned much from your mother about how to keep it populated. I was just thinking about your mother in the past few days--that I was going to share some more Tennessee stories with her in a Christmas note. Thank you for letting me reminisce here. Your mother (as well as your father) was part of an era in my life of wonderful memories and close-to-the-heart relatives. I will treasure those memories. Again, Jeff and I send our condolences and are thinking of you all at this time. God bless. Peggy Lighthiser
