Marcella M. Martin's Obituary
Marcella M. Martin, age 90, of Wild Rose, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 29, 2010. She was born on January 5, 1920, the daughter of Andrew and Maria (Hampshire) Johnson. Sally married Victor Martin on November 15, 1947 in Marshall.
Sally grew up in Deansville and graduated from Marshall High School and Madison Business College. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Staff Sergeant during World War II in Quantico VA and was an administrative assistant for the Marshall Public Schools. Sally moved to Wild Rose in 2002. Sally loved working in her flower garden, feeding and watching birds, family genealogy, and being with her family. Sally and Victor spent many hours bird watching. Sally was especially fond of bluebirds and monitored bluebird nest boxes in her yard and at Camp LuWiSoMo where her work was rewarded by producing 77 bluebirds from nest boxes in 2010. She also loved to visit the Baileys Harbor area in Door County to view plants and birds.
Sally is survived by her brother Erwin Johnson of Cape Girardeau, IL, brother-in-law Willard Borchert of Sun Prairie, son Mark (wife Susan Foote-Martin) of Arlington, son Larry (Nancy Martin) of Wild Rose, daughter Vicki (husband Robert Perelman) of Wild Rose and son Tom (wife Doria Martin) of Wild Rose, grandchildren Marsha Vine Grundahl; Eric, Cody and Mikayla Martin; and Doug & Susan Jirik, Amanda & Emily; Don & Debbie Fisher, Josh & Anna and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor in 2001, and sisters Beaty Borchert and Marie Reamer. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday December 3, 2010 at 11 a.m. at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Wautoma, WI. Rev. Robert L. Stegmann will officiate. A visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be held on Saturday December 4, at 11 a.m. at the ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CEMETERY in Marshall, WI. There will be a visitation in the community room at HOLY TRINITY LUTHERN CHURCH in Marshall from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The HOLLY FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.
