Nelda D. Newell's Obituary
Nelda D. Newell, age 96, of Wild Rose, WI and Kerrville, TX passed away on June 3, 2022. She was the daughter of Walter H. and Florence Y. (Frost) Dopp. Nelda was born January 9, 1926 on a dairy farm in the Town of Belmont, Portage Co., WI.
On May 2, 1952, Nelda married Norman C. Newell in Wild Rose, WI. She taught physical education in the Nekoosa School District for 40 years. Upon retiring from education, Nelda and Norman had many adventures; traveling around the world, wintering one year in New Zealand and traveling around the U.S. in a motor home. This traveling in the motor home brought them to Kerrville, TX where they resided for 20 years. They also enjoyed living on the lakes in Barron County, WI.
Nelda leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends to grieve her caring, considerate, mischievous, stubborn, and challenging personality. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Norman; and three siblings Elizabeth “Buff” Rasmussen, Jean Leathers, and John Dopp.
A Celebration of Nelda’s Life will be on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home, 630 County Road G & H, Wild Rose, WI. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service on Saturday at the Greenvale (Dopp) Cemetery, 5 miles north of Wild Rose on State Road 22. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Greenvale (Dopp) Cemetery Association, c/o Pat Holland, 10124 State Road 22, Wild Rose, WI 54984. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose is assisting the family with arrangements.
