I always felt like one of the family at your home as a child. I remember a scary situation happening when Missy & I were playing outside after a snowstorm. I had to scream for Dick's help because I couldn't pull Missy out of the septic tank that she fell into. For a half second, I thought to myself, "Should I yell Dad or Dick?" while he was shoveling off the roof after that big snowfall because Missy's hand kept slipping out of mine. Although I chose to yell, "Dick," I always felt like I could've just yelled "Dad" and he probably wouldn't have felt it strange since it probably seemed like I practically lived there. To me, Dick was a rock, consistent and present, and I had confidence that he would come and could save Missy from drowning--which of course he did. He was a hero in many ways! May the Lord comfort you all as you rejoice that he's with our Lord! --Jaime Jackson (Kahlhamer)
