Kristine Taggart
When I found out on the 12th that my grandmother had passed away I wish as we all do that I had talked with her more or spent more time with her or that someone had let me know that she was in the hospital. What I remembered the most that day was I had just mentioned her the very day before when I stopped at the Dairy Queen for desserts. The most wonderful memory popped in my head that day. I remembered the times I shared with grandma and her dear friend we called Papa Red at the Dairy Queen. When the three of us were all together when I was very young we used to go in and all get the Peanut Buster Parfait.
A person never had to wonder what grandma was saying about them because she would tell you to your face what she thought. Sometimes it was aweful but at least she was up front with people. Grandma was a very stubborn woman whom I am sure that we thought would outlive us all. Sadly that was not what was intended for her.
I also remember when grandma would drive up north to sell her jellies, jams, produce and flowers. I had seen the craziest thing one year with her. Grandma sold onions and one guy came up to her area and got out a knife, cut the onion like an apple an took a big bite out of it. For me this was a site since I had never seen anyone do this. The greatest parts about our trips north was the time we spent together and of course all the sweet corn we could eat!
She will definitely be missed and I wish that I could have been there to say goodbye.
Her loving granddaughter, Kristine Taggart (Michael Marten's daughter)
