Thomas A. Shambeau's Obituary
Thomas Alan Shambeau passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 in Bonita Springs FL. Tom was born on February 26, 1941 in New London, WI, the oldest child of David A. Shambeau and Emilene (Harber) Shambeau. He graduated from Waupaca High School in 1959 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1963 where he obtained a Business degree and an MBA.
After serving his country in the Army, Tom worked at the Continental Bank in Chicago, IL, where he was a Vice President of the Commercial Lending Group. In 1976, he moved his family back to his hometown.
Tom was a longtime Waupaca businessman, originally starting at Shambeau Realty, which later became Realty World Shambeau and Lyons Real Estate. He had the pleasure of working on many projects with his younger brother, Steve Shambeau. Together, among other things, they owned Charlie’s Bar, the Village Inn Motel, and countless Chain O’ Lakes/ Waupaca area properties that they remodeled and sold. Additionally, over the years, Tom enjoyed flying his Cessna.
Tom is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kristine Shambeau, his son David E. (Stephanie) Shambeau of Waupaca, stepchildren Melissa Woolsey of Waupaca, Paul Weisbrod of Little Chute, and Gwendolyn (Tim Dempsey) Weisbrod of Pewaukee. He is further survived by grandchildren Thomas J. Shambeau, Michael D. Shambeau, Sarah E. Shambeau and step grandchildren Abigail Hayes, Timothy Dempsey, Madeline Dempsey, and Kristianne Dempsey. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Shambeau, sister-in-law Mary Jo Shambeau and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth “Libby” Shambeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Sim Shambeau and brother, Steve Shambeau. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made the Lost Companion Animal Rescue in Saxeville or the Waupaca County Humane Society on Tom’s behalf.
A Remembrance Gathering for Tom will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Waupaca Country Club. Military Honors for Tom will begin at 12:00 Noon, please arrive by 11:45 AM. The gathering will begin immediately following honors until 3:30 PM.
